He showed his skills in Eindhoven from 1988 until 1993, but the saying 'out of sight, out of mind', does not apply to him here in Eindhoven and is still the centre of interest in Brazil. He made 109 appearances for PSV in those five seasons, in which he scored 98 goals. He would have an air of absent-mindedness for some eighty minutes, but he would make his mark felt during the remaining ten minutes and make sure of victory on many occasions. Romario, the 1.68m tall striker, was the King of the Box. PSV clinched the Dutch title three times and they won the Dutch Cup twice, when Romario was in their service. PSV succeeded in progressing to the Champions League knock out stages in the 1992-1993 season, thanks to the goals that Romario netted.Vasco da GamaThe striker still has not found a new employer, but when he was interviewed by Ataque, he announced that he intends to carry on playing for another half a year at least. "I intend to play for another six months, before I retire from professional football", said the 40-year old prolific scorer. He is being linked with Vasco da Gama, Fluminense and Corinthians "I estimate my chances of staying with Vasco at ninety per cent." The Rio de Janeiro league starts on 14 January.PenaltiesRomario said he would not take penalties any longer, which is a perfect opportunity to step up his impressive record. "I lack patience to practise. The less I have to overexert myself at my age, the better it is", he explained. Romario is not secretive on his football future at all. "I will continue to play a role in the world of football. The odds are I will be an official once. I will possibly be a Vice-President. I demand power of decision."Source: Voetbal International
