The Australian forward Archie Thompson has arrived in Holland on Tuesday. After his plane had landed safely at Düsseldorf Airport, the latest PSV signing went straight to the hospital in Geldrop near Eindhoven to undergo several medical tests. 27-year-old Thompson was suffering jetlag and he had to get used to the Dutch weather. When he left Melbourne, the temperature was 30 degrees Celsius, but he announced he was delighted with his move to PSV. "I am living in a dream. This is a tremendous career move for me. Last week I made appearances in Australia and now I have joined PSV. They are ruling champions, they are on top of the Dutch league and they are playing in the Champions League. This is terrific”, said Thompson at the Geldrop Saint Anna Hospital this afternoon. "I was flabbergasted when PSV showed an interest. I was very keen to join them; they are a big club. I am really looking forward to playing here; this is what they call a once in a lifetime opportunity. This is a wonderful solution for me and for Guus Hiddink, also in view of the World Cup 2006. I know Jason Culina; he is a good friend of mine. The only thing is I feel tired, as I suffer jetlag. In Melbourne we could barbecue each day; things are certainly different here!"He may have felt tired, but he was all smiles at the same time. And he added: "I am overwhelmed and stupefied. It’s wonderful to be here. It’s all new to me: the Champions League, the club and the coach." Thompson subsequently underwent a medical, after which he went to see De Herdgang training ground. PSV signed the Australian forward on loan from Melbourne until the end of the season, with the option to extend the contract further. Last Monday Thompson crowned his final game in Australia by scoring the only goal of the game. His wife Emily, his three-year-old daughter Isabella and this five-month old baby son Axel have also made the trip to Holland and will stay here.
