Ligue 1 Olympique Lyon were not able to beat second placed Girondins Bordeaux in the Stade Garland yesterday and had to settle for a goalless draw. The French ruling champions dropped two points for the second time in a row. The top clash between the title contenders and the Ligue 1 runners up turned out to be a rather one-sided affair. Bordeaux pulled up a solid block of stubborn defenders in front of their goalkeeper Ulrich Ramé and the hosts passionately tried to breech the wall. Olympique Lyon are set to clinch the French title for the fifth time in succession anyway, for they still have a twelve-point lead over rivals Bordeaux.PSV assistant coach Fred Rutten watched Lyon attempt in vain to break the deadlock for the full ninety minutes. Defender Cris created most danger with two headers. Ramé did well to save his first one. Cris had his second header bounce off the underside of the crowbar unto the pitch. Although PSV’s next Champions League opponents dominated the disappointing top game, they failed the cutting edge to grab all three points.
