The Stade de Gerland will not be filled to capacity tonight. 30, 000 of 41, 000 tickets have been sold. Some 700 PSV fans have made the trip to Lyon to support their team. Below you will find some statistical data. StatisticsOne thing is for sure: Olympique Lyon have an impressive European home record to boast. Since they slipped to a 0-2 defeat against Ajax in October 2002, L’OL have maintained an unbeaten run of thirteen games, winning nine and drawing four, among which against PSV (1-1) last season. But the team of coach Guus Hiddink has also some stats to be proud of. PSV are unbeaten on their last five trips to France, including a 0-2 win over in last season’s first knock out round. If PSV enjoy victory tonight, they will have earned fifty wins in the European Cup I and current UEFA Champions League campaigns. The red whites played 126 games. They won 49 games, drew 30 games and lost 47 games. They have scored 181 goals and conceded 148 goals.Individual statsThere are also some interesting stats on individual PSV players. There are two players that have not missed a minute in their seven UEFA Champions League games so far: Gomes and André Ooijer. The latter is ruled out for tonight’s clash, as he broke a toe in his right foot, but he has joined his team mates on the trip and will support them tonight from close range. Timmy Simons, Phillip Cocu, Ibrahim Afellay and Jefferson Farfán have also featured in each of the seven games. Cocu is four matches away from his 75th appearance in the Champions League and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink needs to play one more game for his fiftieth appearance in a European game (including UEFA Cup ties). And, last but not least, John de Jong celebrates his 29th birthday today. Congratulations and many happy returns of the day!
