If Phillip Cocu is included in the starting line-up of the Dutch team that face Argentina on Wednesday night, he will join an elite company of players that have made one hundred or more appearances for the Dutch team. The PSV captain obviously hopes he will play four more games with the Dutch team the next two weeks.Phillip Cocu revealed his ambitions to have won 104 caps at the end of this summer to media representatives recently. “It means we would have reached the World Cup final”, said the 35-year-old PSV captain.Cocu has taken his tally to 99 caps so far and is set to become the third Dutch player to have won a magic 100 caps. Defender Frank de Boer (112 caps) and goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar (111 caps) have already achieved this feat. Cocu was handed his debut in the Dutch team on 24 April 1996 in a friendly against Germany, when Holland slipped to a 1-0 defeat. He was brought on as substitute in the 56th minute when Richard Witschge was taken off. Cocu has scored ten goals for his country up till now. When Cocu was fielded, Holland earned 55 wins, drew 29 times and suffered defeat in 15 games. Frank de Boer and Van der Sar are the only players to boast more victories: 63 and 61 respectively. Cocu met 47 national teams during his career. He faced the Belgian national team seven times. Unlike six other players, who will be rested for Wednesday night’s clash, Cocu has not picked up a yellow card. But it’s up to the coach of the Dutch team whether he will be fielded. Just like all Dutch football fans, Cocu has fond memories of the Holland-Argentina World Cup quarter final encounter in France in 1988. Holland enjoyed a 2-1 win, after Dennis Bergkamp scored a superb goal in the final minute
