PSV MEDIA - 20-year-old Johan Vonlanthen, has moved to Red Bull Salzburg in Austria from PSV Eindhoven, as the Swiss striker of Columbian origin, who joined PSV in the 2003-2004 season, wants to get more playing time.PSV Sporting Director Stan Valckx announced the news to PSV Media yesterday. The prospects Vonlanthen (born in Santa Marta on 1 February 1986) had to become a PSV first team regular were ‘’not bright’. Although his contract with PSV would not expire until the summer of 2008, he has now been sold to Red Bull Salzburg. Last season he was on loan with NAC Breda, after he had spent six months on loan with Italian Series A club Brescia. Vonlanthen started his career at Parque in Colombia, after which he moved to BSC Young Boys in Switzerland. He scored six goals in 26 appearances for PSV. Red Bull Salzburg, a top side in Austria, are very ambitious. Giovanni Trappatoni has been signed as Sporting Director and Lothar Matthäus takes charge as head coach. As Red Bull were second in the Austrian league last season, they will participate in the UEFA Champions League preliminary round.The club, adopted by Red Bull, who also own a Major League Soccer club in New York and a strong ice hockey team in Salzburg, want to play a major role at home as well as in Europe.
