France booked a World Cup final spot against Italy, following a 1-0 win over Portugal in Munich last night. The day before Italy had reached the final, after they defeated hosts Germany 2-0 in extra time. The semi-final clash between France and Portugal, who had knocked out Holland from the tournament before, was decided by a penalty that was given on 33 minutes. Zinedine Zidane, who has been outstanding this tournament, stepped up and beat Portugal keeper Ricardo with a low and hard shot. The Portuguese piled on the pressure, but the French protected their lead by defending well. Portugal will play Germany in the third-place play-off match on Saturday at 21.00 in Stuttgart. And France will play Italy in the final in Berlin on Sunday at 20.00 pm.
