Ronald Koeman took charge of the first training session of the new season today. Afterwards he said he was delighted to be back with PSV. He made appearances as a player for the Eindhoven outfit from 1986-1989 and he will be at the helm as PSV head coach the next two seasons. Media representatives who had come flocking in were particularly interested in finding out what the squad will look like this season. Koeman confirmed there is serious interest in Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Jefferson Farfán. "Vennegoor has announced he could be on the move this summer. If a club is willing to pay a transfer sum and the player himself is anxious to make a move, you will never be able to stop him.” Koeman was optimistic as far as Alex is concerned. "The trouble is you never know exactly which players will be back and which players will not. Alex himself has announced he would like to stay with PSV for one more season, so the prospects are bright. But it’s up to Chelsea to make a final decision." PSV are trying to strengthen their defensive, midfield and attacking options. If a player should decide to leave, there will be alternatives, according to the new PSV coach. Two training sessions are scheduled for Friday. The players will train on the pitch on Friday morning and they will do the customary cross-country run in the woods in the afternoon. The morning training session starts at 10.00.
