Arsenal, who drew 1-1 with PSV in a thrilling UEFA Champions League tie last Wednesday, travelled to Anfield Road on Sunday afternoon to meet Liverpool. The Gunners suffered a 2-1 defeat, thanks to a late-gasp stunning goal by Neil Mellor.Liverpool took the lead on 41 minutes from a Xabi Alonso goal. After the break Patrick Vieira scored the equalizer for the team of manager Arsène Wenger, but Mellor made sure of a 2-1 victory with the last kick of the game.Arsenal FC fielded virtually the same side that met PSV last Wednesday night. Thierry Henry and Jose Reyes were granted a place in the starting line-up, although they were slightly injured. Robin van Persie made another appearance as a substitute; he came on for Reyes in the 67th minute. There is now a five-point gap between Gunners and top-of-the-table Chelsea FC, who enjoyed an emphatic 0-4 over Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon.Arsenal FC line-up:Lehmann, Lauren, Touré, Campbell, A. Cole, Ljungberg, Vieira, Fabregas, Pires, Reyes (67, Van Persie) and Henry. Panathinaikos drew with Aris SalonikiPanathinaikos FC travelled to Saloniki and drew 1-1 with Aris Saloniki. Kick-off was delayed fifteen minutes, as one of the light towers failed to work. The two goals were scored in the final stages. Panathinaikos did take the lead, but could not grab victory. Panathinaikos are now third in the Greek league. AEK Athens are on top and Olympiakos occupy the second place.
