Kromkamp and Kluivert are ruled out of PSV’s Dutch Cup quarter final tie against NAC Breda on Wednesday night. Kromkamp has not been able to shake off a knee injury and Kluivert is still fighting a back problem. As Reiziger has not yet returned to full fitness, Alcides is set to play at right back against NAC.
Jan Wouters hosted the media briefing, ahead of the NAC Breda – PSV tie. PSV beat NAC Breda 3-0 at home earlier this season, but Wouters knows that enjoying home advantage could make all the difference. “Playing in front of what will be a vociferous and fanatic home crowd, NAC may rise to the occasion. We have always been given a hot reception by NAC Breda and PSV expect another tough night of football in Breda tomorrow night.” NAC Breda’s recent string of fine performances has not gone unnoticed. They have moved to sixth place in the Eredivisie standings and PSV assistant coach Tonny Bruins Slot was an interested spectator at last weekend’s game between Excelsior and NAC. “For NAC, the Cup tournament is the shortest route into Europe. But we take this game seriously as well. The Dutch Cup is a trophy and we are anxious to lift that Cup at the end of the season. So this is not just another game, where we will field some fringe players. We want to see off NAC Breda and thus reach the semi-finals”, said Wouters. Trying to foresee all scenarios, PSV practised penalties at the Tuesday morning training session. Csaba Fehér, a former NAC Breda player, has been added to the squad, in the absence of Kluivert and Kromkamp.
