PSV won their twentieth title in history after thrashing Vitesse 5-1 at the Philips Stadium last Sunday and thousands of fans had come to the stadium again on Tuesday evening to celebrate the championship, together with the players and coaching staff. Popular singer Guus Meeuwis sang a few songs and the team did a lap of honour.
Captain Phillip Cocu, who announced he would be leaving the club, and coach Ronald Koeman made a speech. Guus Meeuwis, who knows Philips Stadium very well after giving three successful performances in a row last year, sang a few songs, Alexander Sakkers, the mayor of Eindhoven, handed PSV the cup of the town of Eindhoven and tracks of the PSV’s brand-new championship CD were being played at Tuesday night’s party. The Philips Stadium erupted on a particularly scintillating Sunday afternoon when PSV won the title for the twentieth time in history in a thrilling and nerve-racking game played in incredibly dramatic circumstances. PSV will compete in the UEFA Champions League for the eleventh time in a row next season. Watch the best actions shots from Tuesday night’s celebrations at the Philips Stadium.
