Pim Verbeek, former Manager of the PSV Youth Academy, came over at the PSV training ground De Herdgang on Saturday afternoon. He watched the training and took time to meet some old friends and acquaintances.Verbeek is the assistant coach at the German side Borussia Mönchengladbach, where Dick Advocaat is now in charge. The Borussia squad trained on Saturday morning and will meet Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow. Verbeek was assistant to Guus Hiddink during the World Cup 2002, so he got a great opportunity to meet the South Korean international players Ji-Sung Park and Young-Pyo Lee again. Verbeek had made the trip together with Afshin Ghotbi, who was also a member of the South Korea coaching staff during the World Cup 2002 in Japan and South Korea, where he analyzed games. He has been running a football school in the United States for some years now. Ajax player John O’Brien was one of his students. Ghotbi is now assistant coach of the Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy. He was obviously glad to meet Park and Lee, but he also had a long talk with DaMarcus Beasley, who is one of his friends.
