Kenneth Perez was named 'man of the match' in PSV's second pre-season friendly on Tuesday night. The striker, who joined PSV from Ajax during the summer transfer window, bagged four goals in PSV's 13-1 win over amateurs v.v. Herpinia at Sportpark De Wilgendaal in Herpen.

The hosts from Herpen had set themselves one target when the friendly got underway under ideal weather circumstances: score a goal. And they succeeded in doing so: on the stroke of half time their captain Leo Hopman rose high to meet a corner kick and headed home a goal that was enthusiastically welcomed by the Herpen fans, when PSV had already taken an 8-0 lead. The visitors from Eindhoven had started their second pre-season friendly passionately. Hardly one minute was on the clock, when Género Zeefuik took advantage of a goalkeeper's error. Five minutes later Perez doubled the advantage when he struck a superbly taken free kick that sailed into the roof of the net. Herpina shook off their initial fears and started some moves. Goalkeeper Van Son failed to stop an Ibrahim Afellay effort after twenty minutes and John de Jong pounced on the rebound to tap home the third goal of the night. PSV piled up the pressure in the remaining twenty-five minutes of the first half and Afellay (a double), Kromkamp, Zeefuik again and Perez made sure of an 8-0 lead.

Ibrahim Afellay, Eric Addo and Kenneth Perez were the only players that were not taken off at half time. PSV's head coach Ronald Koeman brought on eight new players, including Arouna Koné. The Ivory Coast striker wasted some good opportunities by off-target shots. Danko Lazovic was more successful. The Serb found the net before he fired narrowly wide with an acrobatic overhead kick. Mika Väyrynen was in the right place after 50 minutes, when Perez had an effort deviated. Fifteen minutes later Perez struck a sweet low shot past stranded home goalkeeper Johan van Griensven, who had left the bench to replace first-choice stopper Van Son. PSV scorned a host of chances, netting two more goals in the closing stages. Perez made it twelve and Väyrynen had the final say. The hosts may have suffered an emphatic defeat; yet they had every reason to be satisfied: beautiful weather, goals galore and most important of all: a goal scored by Herpinia.
