SC Heerenveen have now also joined the list of Dutch clubs that will play European football after the mid-winter break. The Frisians enjoyed a 1-0 win over the Belgian side SK Beveren, at home in the Abe Lenstra Stadium last night and have now secured a place in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup. The only and consequently winning goal was scored on 26 minutes by Arnold Bruggink. The former PSV forward was substituted some ten minutes after the opener, after he had seemed to have picked up a thigh muscle strain. It was an historical night for Dutch football, for never before in the rich history of professional football in Holland did five clubs - PSV, Ajax, AZ, Feyenoord and sc Heerenveen - succeed in progressing to the next round. Three clubs managed to make an appearance on the European stage on four occasions. PSV are the only club that has played European games those four times. The UEFA Champions League draw will take place tomorrow at 12 o' clock; the UEFA Cup draw starts at 13, 45 hrs.
