Danny Koevermans was all smiles when he put on his brand-new size XL PSV shirt at De Herdgang training centre on Thursday night. “This is amazing. It really exceeds my wildest expectations. It is a major step forwards in my career”, said the striker, who will sign a four-year contract with PSV on Friday.
After having undergone a medical, Koevermans went straight to De Herdgang, where he was asked for a first reaction by PSV Media to his move to the ruling champions of Holland. “I had never expected this to happen. You just cannot outline a career, but the past few days things have developed rapidly. PSV are a great club and this is a major step forwards in my career”, said Koevermans, who will wear the No.10 shirt at PSV. “I am delighted with the move.”

The forward went to hospital on Friday morning for a final medical, after which he put pen to paper on a four-year deal that will keep him at the Philips Stadium until the summer of 2011. “I spent two fine seasons with AZ, but I am delighted with the move to PSV. I will join the squad for the trip to FC Twente. We must make sure to grab all three points.” Danny Koef, as he is nicknamed, is relishing the prospect of playing in the Champions League. “I think we have been drawn against fine opponents. I don't want to make any predictions, though. It is wonderful I will be given an opportunity to show my skills at the biggest stage in club football.” Koevermans was most flattered for being compared to Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Celtic's leading scorer, who works hard and is able to control the ball as a target man. “I just hope I will score just as many goals for PSV as he has done.
