The Dutch football magazine Elf published an interview with PSV goalkeeper Gomes in their December issue. The headlin is "The Seleçao is tempting" and in the article the PSV stopper is referred to as 'the crown prince among the Brazilian goalies'."I've always set my heart on PSV. Many Brazilian players have been here before and that’s why I knew PSV are a club where young foreign players get a chance."Twenty-three year old Gomes, whose full name is Heurelho de Silva Gomes, reveals that he had never the intention to become a keeper, when he was a young kid; he would rather follow in the footsteps of Romario and Ronaldo. The tall Brazilian did not start his career as a goalkeeper until he was already sixteen years of age.Ever since he made a move from Cruzeiro to PSV, he has been regarded the crown prince among the Brazilian goalies and his picture is to be seen in nearly all favelas and the slums in his native country. It will not take long before he will be called up for the squad of the national team. "Now that I’ve settled here, this is my next target. I know being called up for the Seleçao is only a matter of time. The goalkeeping coach of the national team has told me that opportunity will knock soon. I can hardly wait!"
