Jan Kromkamp is relieved that his injury problems, which kept him on the sidelines the past six weeks, have finally come to an end. Kromkamp underwent knee surgery in December and has meanwhile returned to training with the squad.

As the rain kept pouring down on Wednesday morning, the PSV first-team squad went through all the routine drills on the pitches of Belgian First Division side Racing Genk. At least one player was smiling after the tough training session. 'I spent one-and-a-half months on the sidelines, which was obviously not a pleasant experience. But I am fit again and hope to play a part in the hectic programme soon', said Kromkamp who admitted that it was taking some getting used to again. 'I was out of contention for a long time, and it's been a real grind, but I think I'm now through the worst of it. I couldn't even run during the festive season, so I am grateful I have recovered.'
The defender did not feature in PSV's 2-0 win over Fortuna Sittard in a friendly on Tuesday night and he is doubtful for Saturday's top of the table clash with Feyenoord.
'I have had two good days of training now, but the medical staff thought it would better for me not to play a game yet. To be quite honest, I think the Feyenoord game comes too early, but if I get through the training sessions this week and our coach needs me, I may consider a comeback.'
Kromkamp was pleased to welcome the new coaching staff, who are 'social-minded and honest'. 'First impressions are important and I feel they have come across as pleasant and genial coaches. I am pleased they have been able to identify our strengths and weaknesses and have clear ideas how to make us better.'
