The G-14 will probably cease to exist in February, when the UEFA propose to the European clubs the intention to create a new body that will represent their interests at European level. This new club body - to be known as the European Club Association - will consist of more than 100 clubs across Europe, including representatives from each one of the 53 national associations of UEFA.
Through the creation of a new, independent European Clubs Association, clubs will be appropriately represented in the decision-making bodies in UEFA and FIFA and a number of long-standing issues, such as the compensation for player participation in European Championships and FIFA World Cups should be resolved. G-14 members, including PSV and Ajax, will next meet at a General Assembly on 15 February in order to decide upon the future of the organisation.
In September 2000, fourteen founder clubs, including PSV, created the G-14 European Football Club Grouping. They were keen to find a constructive way of reforming a system in which their voice was not heard and establish for the clubs a meaningful executive role in the management of the international game. The G-14 currently consists of eighteen clubs.
