The PSV squad trained on Tuesday morning for the last time ahead of Wednesday night's crucial Eredivisie clash with Ajax at the Amsterdam ArenA. Yesterday morning's session took place behind closed doors, but this morning the crowd and press were welcome again to watch the players train. The players, who were out training with a 10:30 start, went through all the routine drills, followed by some small-sided games.
Ismail Aissati and Otman Bakkal, who were ruled out of Saturday's encounter with Excelsior due to injuries, joined their team mates for full training and are set to return to action against Ajax. Ibrahim Afellay serves a one-match ban on Wednesday night and watched the squad play a practise match at training, along with Zeefuik and Jonathan, who featured in Young PSV's 2-1 win at Willem II. Ajax v PSV was originally scheduled for 16 December, but the match was cancelled after the mayor of Amsterdam had announced public safety could not be guaranteed due to a police strike. PSV have opened up a five-point lead at the top of the Eredivisie as they inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Excelsior on Saturday. Ajax v PSV kicks off at 20: 45.
