A second-half penalty from Timmy Simons ensured PSV took all three points from their away game against Willem II in Tilburg. 'We earned a win in a game of two halves', said Sef Vergoossen at the post-match press conference. The PSV interim head coach told media representatives that his team had earned a hard fought victory, and praised his players for their commitment and resilience.

'I am disappointed with our second-half performance, but I am quite happy with the first half', said Vergoossen, 'We were slow to get going but after some twenty minutes we showed fighting spirit and were attack-minded. After the break we lost control and Alcides as well as Zonneveld picked up injuries. We worked hard, defended well, but the game could have gone either way. In the end we were rewarded for our fighting spirit and resilience', said Vergoossen, who admitted PSV had been fortunate not to have dropped two points.
Willem II coach Andries Jonker was disappointed his side had slipped to their ninth defeat by the smallest possible margin this season. 'The crowd gave us a standing ovation when the final whistle had gone but we were again left empty-handed.'
