Young PSV coach Anton Janssen was full of praise for his side on Monday night as they bounced back from last week's 1-0 defeat at sc Heerenveen to record a 2-0 home win over Sparta Rotterdam. Rochdi Achenteh and Mika Väyrynen were on target after the break.
Young PSV, who had included first-team regulars Slobodan Rajkovic, Tommie van der Leegte, Ismail Aissati and Väyrynen, could not slice open the compact Sparta defence in the first half. Van der Leegte had to be replaced after just 20 minutes and Stijn Wuytens left the bench to replace him. Straight after the restart the hosts were awarded a free kick and Rochdi Achenteh's low strike sailed past the wall and Sparta keeper Cor Varkevisser into the net: 1-. Väyrynen scored with a powerful long-range effort on the hour mark to put the result beyond doubt.
