Examinations at hospital have revealed that the injury that PSV keeper Heurelho da Silva Gomes sustained during Thursday night´s UEFA Cup clash with Fiorentina is less serious than was originally feared. Gomes was forced to be substituted on the hour mark, when he felt an excruciating pain after he had kicked a ball.
Gomes suffered most likely from severe cramp when he kicked the ball away. The PSV stopper was obviosuly very much relieved when he was told the good news. 'I was very worried, as the pain was excruciating. But fortunately no damage has been done, so I will be able to focus on the remaining games in the Dutch Eredivisie and the UEFA Cup', said Gomes. It is not known whether Gomes will start against Heracles Almelo on Sunday afternoon. The goalkeeper will first have to return to full fitness. 'I still feel some pain. I will continue to have customised training sessions and have to wait and see how things develop.'
