Goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson was at De Herdgang training centre on Wednesday afternoon to put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Dutch champions. The 26-year-old was obviously delighted with his move to PSV. 'I am looking forward to it, it feels good to be here', said Isaksson.
Isaksson 'I will enjoy a great time here'
Andreas Isaksson had never been at De Herdgang before. 'It's a fine training centre. Hopefully, I will enjoy a great time here. PSV is a great club with a big sponsor, Philips. The stadium is even named after Philips. It's a stable club which has achieved good results in recent years, at home as well as in Europe. They have won four successive Eredivisie titles', said the Swede. Isaksson faces a tall task at PSV as he will replace Heurelho da Silva Gomes. 'Gomes is a great goalkeeper. I only saw him in action during the UEFA Champions League games. I will give everything to PSV. That's what I am here for.'
Stevens: 'An experienced keeper'
PSV's new head coach Huub Stevens expressed his pleasure at having secured Isaksson's signature. 'We needed to find a new goalkeeper after Gomes left the club and we carefully assessed our options. Isaksson has great qualities and he is also a great human being. He has extensive big-match experience, and as he is only 26 years old he will be able to develop into an even better keeper. We have opted to sign an experienced goalkeeper rather than a promising young stopper. Isaksson is a strong personality and has belief in himself. He knows what it takes to succeed here. And the Swedish mentality fits well with the Dutch', concluded Stevens. Andreas Isaksson is going to enjoy a short holiday before he will join the squad for pre-season training.
