Huub Stevens had added Anton Scheutjens to his backroom staff as goalkeeping coach. Scheutjens, who joins PSV from Roda JC, signs a two-year contract and will be working together in Eindhoven with Hans Segers. 'I'm sure I am going to enjoy life at the Philips Stadium; it's great to be back', said Scheutjens.
Second-team appearances
Anton Scheutjens, who was born in Nuenen in the county of Brabant on 1 May 1968, made a move from Helmond Sport to Roda JC in 2007. The goalkeeping coach had one year left on his contract with Roda JC. 'Roda JC has reached agreement with PSV and I told my agent and PSV that I will sign a contract.' 40-year-old Scheutjens enjoyed spells at Roda JC, Go Ahead Eagles and Helmond Sport as a goalkeeper. As a youth player, he played for amateurs RKSV Heeze and also made second-team appearances for PSV.
'Isaksson: a good acquisition'
At the end of March, PSV announced that the Brazilian Flavio Tenius would be appointed as their new goalkeeping coach, but the club decided to look for another coach after Heurelho da Silva Gomes had made a move to Tottenham Hotspur. Anton Scheutjens and Hans Segers will not only take charge of the first-team goalkeepers, but also train and coach the Young PSV and junior stoppers. Former PSV goalkeeper Hans Segers returned to his native town Eindhoven, after he had been appointed as new goalkeeping coach at PSV. He also put pen to paper on a two-year deal. 'I have spoken to Hans a couple of times. He was a colleague of mine during my spell as goalkeeper at PSV.' Sweden goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson joined PSV Eindhoven on a four-year contract from Manchester City on Wednesday. 'I haven't met the new goalkeeper yet but saw him action at Euro 2008. He has shown the potential to be a good acquisition.'
