Stijn Wuytens came to PSV's rescue in Saturday night's warm-up at Sporting Club de Portugal. Vukcevic opened the scoring for the hosts at Estádio José after six minutes, but Wuytens, a replacement for Simons, equalised in the closing stages from Mika Väyrynen' pass.
Opening goal
PSV head coach Huub Stevens handed a start to the Brazilian goalkeeper Ramos. Salcido again played at right back, while Zonneveld was employed at left back, with Eric Addo partnering Maza RodrĂguez in the centre of defence. The midfielders Ibrahim Afellay, Balázs Dzsudzsák, Jason Culina and Mika Väyrynen supported striker Danko Lazovic up front. The hosts started encouragingly and their early pressure was rewarded in the 7th minute, when Grimi delivered a precise cross from the left flank which Vukcevic controlled well before unleashing a powerful shot from 18 yards which beat Ramos. PSV responded well by a well-worked move after fifteen minutes. Afellay found Dzsudzsák, who cut inside the box, but hit his right-footed shot straight at the keeper. The Brazilian Rochemback and Vukcevic had chances to extend the home side's lead.
Manco debut
Stevens made a triple substitution at half time, bringing on Amrabat for Lazovic and Bréchet for Addo. Manco also came on at the start of the second half, replacing Afellay. The small Peruvian striker, who was given his first taste of first-team action, showed off his technical skills with some fine solo runs. The Portuguese, who wore their away kit in the second period, made a host of changes, and Wuytens left the bench to replace Simons. Salcido was substituted by Alcides, who was being booed by the home fans, who had not forgotten that the Brazilian had once made appearances for Benfica. Fifteen minutes from time, Amrabat and Wuytens started a counter attack, but Manco saw his effort curl just wide of the near post. PSV threw men forward in the closing stages and keeper Batista, who replaced Rui PatrĂcio in the second half, was called into action several times. PSV drew level two minutes from time, when Väyrynen's free kick found Wuytens. The Belgian produced a shot that gave the keeper no chance; 1-1. Results in the pre-season campaign really are not that important, but the friendly against was certainly a useful run-out for the players. Stevens must have been pleased with Manco's debut and Bréchet's comeback. The French defender stepped up his return to full fitness with a solid display at the back. Sporting were reduced to the men when Pedro Silva was shown a red card. PSV fly back home to Eindhoven on Sunday morning and continue their pre-season programme at De Herdgang training facilities on Monday morning.
