With the first-team squad depleted by several players away on international duty, PSV coach Huub Stevens called up some Young PSV players to train with the senior squad on Thursday morning. Erik Pieters has resumed training, after he was taken off the field with an injury in Saturday's 3-0 win over De Graafschap.
Erik Pieters resumes full training
The sun was shining brightly on a beautiful Thursday morning in autumn, when PSV coach Huub Stevens took charge of a training session with only eight first-team regulars. Ibrahim Afellay and Dirk Marcellis prepare for Holland's World Cup qualifier against Iceland at the Rotterdam Kuip on Saturday, along with Jan Kromkamp, who was called up to the Holland squad yesterday. The first-team players, Maza, Stijn Wuytens, Jérémie Bréchet, Otman Bakkal, Nordin Amrabat, and goalkeeper Cássio Ramos were on De Herdgang training pitch, which was covered with autumn leaves. Erik Pieters, who was taken off the field with an injury in Saturday's 3-0 win over De Graafschap, has resumed training. The left back withdrew from the Holland Under-21 squad earlier this week. Some Young PSV players had been called up to join the senior squad. After the players had warmed up, they did crossing and finishing, before they played a practise game. Assistant coach Jan Wouters took part in the game and made his mark, scoring a fine goal. The depleted squad will also train on Thursday afternoon. PSV will not be in action until Saturday, October 18, when they travel to Breda to face NAC.
