PSV have strengthened their squad by signing the Brazilian striker Robert de Pinho de Souza. He underwent a medical at the Geldrop Saint Anna hospital this morning and will be presented by PSV manager Guus Hiddink at the Eindhoven Philips Stadium later this afternoon. The twenty-three-year old forward, whose football name is 'Robert', made a move from the Mexican club Atlas. He was chosen as Football Player of the Year in the Mexican league. He made 22 appearances, in which he scored 16 goals. Robert was born in Salvador and will join his fellow countrymen Gomes, Alex and Leandro. Robert has regularly been called up for national duty. He was capped twelve times for the national team Under 20 and he made five appearances in the Olympic team. He will wear number 29 at the back of his PSV shirt. Robert has spells with the Brazilian clubs Coritiba and São Caetano, with Spartak Moscow in Russia and, until quite recently, Atlas in Mexico. PSV have been interested in Robert for quite some yet and scouted him during several international tournaments. Robert arrived at the PSV training ground De Herdgang at a quarter past twelve, where he met the technical staff and the players. Guus Hiddink will present him to the media in the Philips Stadium later this afternoon.
