PSV are not afraid of taking on leaders AZ on Saturday night. PSV coach Dwight Lodeweges emphasised at the weekly press briefing, ahead of Saturday's clash against AZ, that PSV will show fighting spirit. 'We are PSV. We play at home and we aim to continue our winning streak.'
Ola Toivonen
Preparations for Saturday's have been far from perfect according to Lodeweges. 'We had a great many players away on international duty and only six players were available to train the whole week. They have jetted off to faraway countries such as Japan and Mexico. They have all returned, though, and fortunately have come through the international friendlies and World Cup qualifiers unscathed', explained Lodeweges who added he is likely to name the same team that earned maximum points from their last three outings. The PSV coach will be forced to make one change, as Ola Toivonen will serve the first of a two-match suspension. 'It's too bad, as Ola was in great shape and linked well with his team mates. But Lazovic and Koevermans have been doing well at training and I feel confident they will provide adequate cover.'
Neutralise AZ's strength
Lodeweges told the press that AZ show great tactical discipline. 'They are obviously different from FC Volendam and De Graafschap, but I want my team to show their skills against leaders AZ. I've called on my players to show no fear. We realise that Dembélé and De Zeeuw are quality players, but we are PSV. We play at home and we aim to continue our winning streak. It's up to us to neutralise their strengths and we should consider it a huge challenge to expose their weak spots. We've warned our players to be wary of AZ's lethal counter-attacks.'
