nterim Chelsea coach Guus Hiddink guided his team to a 1-0 victory over Juventus in the last 16 of the Champions League at Stamford Bridge. Didier Drogba scored an early goal to give Hiddink his second single goal win in a row after beginning his reign with a victory at Aston Villa on Saturday.

Twelve minutes were on the clock, when Didier Drogba found the net. Ivory Coast winger Salomon Kalou delivered a superb reverse-pass, releasing compatriot Didier Drogba. The striker unleashed a powerful shot that left Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon with no chance. Hiddink handed a start to former PSV defender Alex Rodrigo Dias da Costa. The Brazilian played the full 90 minutes.
Van Bommel enjoys victory
Bayern Munich took a big step towards a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Ribéry and Toni scored a double each and Klose was also on target in Bayern's 5-0 thrashing of Sporting Lisbon in the first leg of their last 16 tie in Portugal. Mark van Bommel, who played the entire match for Bayern Munich, was cautioned by referee Layec.
Robben suffers defeat
Two Dutchmen were on the pitch when the match between Real Madrid and Liverpool got underway. Former PSV forward Arjen Robben made an appearance for the hosts in Madrid and Dirk Kuyt was handed a start by The Reds. Liverpool recorded a 1-0 win. The winning goal was scored in the 82nd minute when Liverpool won a free kick. Fabio Aurelio swung the ball from the right flank and Yossi Benayoun, who had evaded his markers Fernando Gago and Lassana Diarra, headed home to score from five yards out.
Villareal and Panathinaikos drew 1-1 in Spain in the fourth UCL match on Wednesday night.
