Coach Dwight Lodeweges admitted he was very disappointed with the 1-1 draw against N.E.C., and with the two red cards and he was also left to rue a series of missed chances as PSV will fail to finish the season in third spot. 'I'm not upset and angry but extremely disappointed', said Lodeweges at the post-match conference.
'I'm not upset and angry'
'Conceding a goal deep into injury time is not a pleasant experience', said Dwight Lodeweges after taking charge of PSV for the last time in the Philips Stadium. 'N.E.C. have snatched a late point, and I am left with a feeling of disappointment. We played well the first twenty minutes and started the second half brightly. But then we picked some silly yellow and red cards. We should have been more professional. I'm not angry with my players but it's a shame we didn't kill the game and only managed a 1-1 draw. We could have boosted our chances of finishing in third place. I must admit it's extremely disappointing', said Lodeweges, who praised Jason Culina and Jan Wouters for their professional approach and skills.
Mario Been
His colleague Mario Been, who will be succeeded as N.E.C. had coach by Lodeweges, admitted it had been a tough game for his team. 'We were impressed by PSV and could have been two goals down after just five minutes. PSV enjoyed the bulk of possession in the first half, but we held on. We did not improve after the break and conceded a penalty. We poured forward in the closing stages and increased the pressure on PSV's defence. We were lucky to snatch a point and we are still in contention for a play-off place', concluded Been.
