It is doubtful whether Ibrahim Afellay will make an appearance for the Dutch team U20 in their World Cup 2005 second group game against Australia, in Kerkrade on Wednesday night. The PSV midfielder is suffering from a hamstring injury. He has been examined in hospital today.InjuryFoppe de Haan, coach of the Dutch team U2, explains that Afellay sustained this injury during the final league game of the season he played with PSV. "We knew he had picked up this injury, when he reported for duty with the Dutch team U20. I got in touch with Guus Hiddink and the PSV medical staff. At first things looked all right, but he has had a considerable setback from the physically demanding exertions of the Japan game ever since last Friday."MRI scanDe Haan got in touch with doctor Cees Rein van den Hoogenband, who called up Afellay to the Geldrop Saint Anna Hospital to undergo an MRI scan. De Haan is going to decide on Tuesday what action he is going to take as regards Afellay. "He is a very important player for the team. I would very much like him to play, but on the other hand we‘ll have to be cautious”, felt the coach of the national team U20.
