PSV Youth players Roy Beerens (17) and Ismaïl Aissati (16) have joined the first team squad on their trip to South Korea in order to gain some experience at playing football at top level. Both players were thrown in at the deep end in the third game against Once Caldas (0-0) and put up a fine display. A fair share of braveryOn arrival at the hotel in Gwangju, the squad had dinner. PSV Media asked Beerens and Aissati for their analysis of the match and their own performances. Beerens was included in the starting XI and played the full 90 minutes up front on the right wing. By turning and by showing some great technical moves and by demonstrating a fair share of bravery, he continually tried to find an opening in the well-organized Once Caldas defence. "Well, yes, I did all right. Obviously it was quite heavy, what with the weather and the physical part of the game. I was told in the afternoon that I would be included in the starting line-up and I felt like: "Wow. Let's go for it! This has been a wonderful experience."Beerens, who is seventeen years old, ought to be fielded in the highest junior team in view of his age, but he makes appearances for Young PSV and tonight he was called up to play against the ruling South American champions.Worked hardAissati, who is only sixteen years of age, was brought on as a substitute. "We have been working hard. I felt I did well as a substitute; they upped a gear. It was more than I had dreamt of when I was invited to come and join the first team squad to Korea." Beerens added: "Oh, this was magic! The pitches, the hotels: everything has been excellently taken care of. This is what I have always wanted, ever since I was a kid. When I was a youngster, I asked the PSV players for their autographs. And now I feel privileged to play with them in one team."Guy Dufour is the third youngster in the squad who has been handed a trial and he was included in the team for the opening game. So the three of them are taken seriously and are considered as players of the first team.
