PSV maintained their unbeaten Champions League run at home. They set a new Dutch record by remaining unbeaten for the tenth time in succession. PSV head coach Guus Hiddink announced at the post-match press conference that he was delighted with this ‘big bonus’ of three points. Self-confidence"I am delighted with this very big bonus. One point would have been fine, but a bonus of three points is really excellent”, said Hiddink in the Philips Stadium press room, following the 1-0 win over AC Milan. PSV did not concede a single goal in three of their four group stage games. "I think this team is very smart and they understand the implications of playing international football. We proved that on our trip to AC Milan, but we could not make an impact on that night. We have proved again tonight that we want to play attacking football and that we have the technical and tactical skills to do so. We gained self-confidence by the minute.AC Milan have created only a few chances. My players deserve praise for their fighting spirit and tactical understanding. This is a very good evening for Dutch football, as pictures and reports of this match will go all over the world.”Ismail AissatiHiddink said PSV had shown they had the guts to attack AC Milan in a way that team are not used to. The name of Ismail Aissati, only 17 years of age, was frequently mentioned during and after the game. Hiddink had already decided a few days ago that he would include the young midfielder in the starting line-up. "And that was not a desperate choice. He has put on a tremendous display tonight. He has been adapting to the pace of our game ever since we started the pres-season campaign and he has developed physically as well. He did well as a substitute during some domestic league games and tonight we thought it was time to hand him his full debut on the European stage. I didn’t hesitate to do so. This lad, who celebrated his seventeenth birthday three months ago, is developing wonderfully. He is a good player and he is also a good team player”, finished Hiddink his analysis of Aissati. Carlo AncelottiAC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti was brief in his post-match comments and analysis. "I was not surprised by the way PSV played and I had expected Aissati to be included in their starting line-up. We were soon trailing 1-0 and that’s why this game was much more difficult than the one we played against Juventus last Saturday. But this was obviously an entirely different game." He was still convinced his choice of not bringing on striker Andrei Shevchenko until the final stages of the game was a correct one. But Ancelotti concluded by saying: "I will field some new strikers in our next few games.”
