All the pictures of the special PSV players' calendar were put up for auction at Monday night's New Year's reception. The proceeds will go to the KWF Kankerbestrijding, ( a Dutch organization that fights against cancer), a charitable organization that is supported by PSV during the 2005-2006 season. A record figure was quoted when the auctioneer put up the Phillip Cocu picture for auction. Bidding was only stopped when over two thousand euros had been offered. All the other pictures yielded a few hundred euros on average, with some spectacular peaks, so that a fair sum of money was raised. When the auction was over, pictures were taken of all players present together with the happy buyers. Following Monday night’s auction, PSV wrote out a cheque for the benefit of KWF Kankerbestrijding, the charitable organization that is supported by PSV the entire campaign. € 32.970,16 was collected during the first period of the season. The money will be used to finance research into children’s cancer, at the emphatic request of the squad.
