The gap between Eredivisie leaders PSV and the runners-up remains three points. PSV head coach Guus Hiddink guided his team to a comfortable 0-2 win over ADO Den Haag, thanks to two second half goals from Jefferson Farfán and captain Phillip Cocu. CircumstancesADO were unable to give PSV a really hard time. The Eindhoven outfit often face tough opposition in their away games this season, but this afternoon they did not have to give their all to grab three precious points under difficult circumstances. Both teams put in a physical fight on the frozen pitch. ADO had included lots of physical challenges and an opportunistic approach in their game plan, but PSV responded very well. The strikers Arouna Koné (Africa Cup) and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (injury) were not available, but Jefferson Farfán, who has proved this season he is a clinical finisher as well, put in a fine performance as striker op front.André OoijerPSV were made to work hard during the first thirty minutes on the pitch that was not fit for a technically skilled passing game. Phillip Cocu earned the greatest chance on the half hour mark, when he cut into the area, but he shot straight at ADO Den Haag goalkeeper, Doris De Vries. DaMarcus Beasley also got an opportunity to open the scoring, but he drilled his effort across the goal. The wintry circumstances were not conducive to the level of the game and the players, who wore shoes fitting for an artificial pitch, committed a great many fouls. André Ooijer went into the notebook of referee Vink, so he will serve a one-match ban, when PSV taken on Roda JC.
