Young PSV have also been knocked out of the Beloften Gatorade Cup tournament, following a 2-0 defeat against their AZ counterparts in a quarter final tie. The team coached by Ernest Faber and Patrick Greveraars were withdrawn from the Gatorade Cup tournament for first teams earlier this season, as they had fielded a non-eligible player. Young PSV were on the road to Alkmaar on Monday night, where they met Young AZ. They had an unfortunate start: Dirk Marcellis scored an own goal when only seven minutes were on the clock. The hosts fielded a team, in which first team regulars De Zeeuw, Ikedia and Buskermolen were included. New PSV signings Plá and Nguyen made an appearance and the latter in particular was outstanding. The American played the full 90 minutes. When Luyckx doubled the advantage for AZ midway through the second half, Young PSV realized they had been eliminated.
