UEFA Cup final campaign officially kicked off (PSV.nl)

The campaign for the UEFA Cup final, hosted by the Eindhoven Philips Stadium on10 May next, has been officially kicked off at the Eindhoven town hall. Hans van Breukelen was introduced as the official ambassador of the big event. In the presence of journalists, a PSV delegation, representatives of the town of Eindhoven and of the UEFA, the Union European Football Association, all the pre-final plans were thoroughly disclosed. Mr A. Sakkers, mayor of Eindhoven, extended a hearty welcome to everybody. Harry Been, General Secretary of the KNVB, the Royal Dutch Football Association, explained the PR campaign and all logos and manifestations were revealed by means of a presentation. Mayor Sakkers received the first UEFA Cup final ticket. Count down to the UEFA Cup final has started: today it exactly one hundred days to go. A host of activities will be organized for the town of Eindhoven as part of the UEFA Cup final festivities. A large-scale drawing contest will be conducted at primary schools (the winning entries will be exhibited); the trophy will be on tour to a great many amateur football clubs and the cup will be officially handed over. Officials of title holders CSKA Moscow will come to Eindhoven in mid-March to hand over the trophy. The UEFA Cup quarter final draw will be conducted on the same say. All eight participating clubs will be presented by an official. Never before has a draw for that stage of the UEFA Cup been conducted in the town where the final is scheduled. The Dutch national TV broadcasting company will cover the draw live. One day before the final takes place, 9 May next, a big youth tournament will be held. The organizational committee also announced that Hans van Breukelen will act as official ambassador. The former goalkeeper of PSV and the Dutch national team said he was delighted and considered it an honour that a former football player had been asked to act as official ambassador. "I represent an entire generation", announced De Breuk (his nickname) in the Eindhoven town hall. He will attend all ceremonies and accomplish all sorts of activities to promote the final and the town of Eindhoven. Ticket sales for the final will start on 20 February on the official UEFA web site, uefa.com. The registration by means of internet (two tickets a person at the utmost) will be concluded on 20 March. The most expensive tickets are 115 euros; the cheapest tickets are 35 euros. The attendance in the Philips Stadium is 31, 300. 30% of the tickets will be available for the two teams that compete the final (9, 200 seats) 20 % of the tickets (6, 000 seats) will be sold by internet. UEFA, UEFA federations, KNVB and commercial partners will receive the remaining 20%.
