Groningen head coach Ron Jans announced at the post-match press conference that he was "awfully proud" of his players and the energetic way they had fought themselves back into the game. His PSV colleague Guus Hiddink was not long in his analysis of the thrilling cup tie and said he was happy his side had reached the semi finals. Guus Hiddink said at the post-match press conference in the Euroborg Stadium that he was "obviously happy his side had progressed to the semi finals". He added that the 0-3 lead at half time was unexpectedly favourable. "When we were 0-3 on top, the excitement had gone. I t was of course an excellent score line. Groningen reduced the deficit to 2-3, as we did not offer enough in the final stages. I was not nervous that they would come on level terms. I am glad my side has reached the semi finals, for we take this tournament very seriously. We always prepare well; that’s what we did last season and that’s what we have done again today." Ron Jans was reminded of a groggy boxer, when he commented on his team’s first half performance. "There were three set pieces and all of a sudden we were trailing 0-3. We were like a boxer who has gone down, shakes his head and wonders where to go from here. I told my lads at half time to go for it. That’s why I am so awfully proud of them. Pick up yourselves together, I told them, and show the crowd what you’re up to. We put in an energetic second half performance. We never looked like scoring the 3-3 equalizer, but I had a great time. And our home fans were tremendous in their support."
