Ibrahim Afellay will not be able to make appearances for the team of Young Holland during the Euro 2006 in Portugal. The PSV midfielder left the training camp last Monday, as he was troubled by a muscle injury in the back of his knee. DisappointmentThe PSV player was obviously disappointed. "I am absolutely devastated. I had hoped so much to be fit in time. Last season I took part in the World Cup U 20, so I know from experience how wonderful it is to compete in such a tournament. It is very cruel I am being forced to withdraw, in particular as Young Holland are the centre of interest at the moment. I find it hard to describe my feelings", announces Afellay on the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) official website.MedunjaninHaris Medunjanin has been called up meanwhile to fill in for the injured midfielder. The AZ player, who has never made an appearance for Young Holland in an official game before, has made a move from the Dutch Olympic team that take part in the Festival international "Espoires" in Toulon,
