Romário' s American adventure came to an end, when Vancouver Whitecaps knocked his club Miami FC out of the USL First Division playoff quarter final. Romário scored 19 goals during his spell in Florida and needs to net sixteen more strikes in order to realise a career one thousand goals. Miami FC did not succeed in making amends for the emphatic 4-1 defeat they had suffered against the Vancouver Whitecaps in the first quarter final leg. They slipped to a 2-0 defeat at home, at the Tropical Park Stadium on Sunday night. Brazilian legend, Indy Car driver Helio Castroneves, performed the opening kick-off. Miami encountered some problems in their return from Canada, such as plane delays, flight cancellations, and lack of available hotels. That’s why the team arrived back in Miami only on Sunday morning. Now that Miami’s season has come to an end, Romário is expected to return to Vasco da Gama in Rio. The former PSV icon has meanwhile taken his career tally to 984 goals, so he needs to find the net sixteen more time to reach a landmark one thousand goals. Romario may make fourteen league appearances with Vasco da Gama and his club may also schedule some friendlies. And 40-year-old Romário may very well pop up somewhere else to ply his trade and score goals. Vasco play a game next Wednesday, but it is unknown whether Romário will be fielded. To be continued.
