Last week PSV leapfrogged Ajax at the top of the Eredivisie and this weekend they have extended their lead. They earned an emphatic 4-0 win over Excelsior and their nearest rivals dropped points. Ajax-FC Twente: 1-1Ajax could not pull off a win at home for the second time in a row. Last week they were beaten 1-0 by PSV and Henk ten Cate’s team had to settle for a 1-1 draw with FC Twente on Sunday afternoon. FC Twente coaches Fred Rutten and René Eijkelkamp rendered their former club PSV a valuable service. Orlando Engelaar opened the scoring for the visitors after eight minutes and Wesley Sneijder netted the equaliser from a well-struck free kick soon after the break. Feyenoord-AZ: 3-2AZ, again, did not succeed in winning a game against a so-called traditional top 3 club. Louis van Gaal’s team came from behind twice in the Rotterdam Kuip on Saturday night, but Nicky Hofs ensured victory after he had scored his second goal of the night. And so Erwin Koeman, another former PSV coach, did PSV a good turn.PSV now have a three-point lead over Ajax and enjoy a five-point cushion over AZ. Feyenoord have climbed to the fourth place and the gap with third-placed AZ is only three points. PSV also have the best goal difference: they scored 35 goals and conceded only 6 goals.
