Ronald Koeman and his squad look back at a wonderful week, with three wins in a row at the Philips Stadium, but the PSV head coach emphasized that the most important match is always the next one. That's why PSV seriously prepare for the first cup tie of the season, away against Young Heerenveen on Wednesday night.
PSV trained on Tuesday morning, for the last time ahead of Wednesday's cup tie in the county of Friesland. “We take the cup tie seriously and have analyzed our opponents' weaknesses and strengths. We have no idea what team they will field; that's up to their coaching staff”, explained Koeman at a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon. The Brazilian striker Alves, who was leading top scorer in the Dutch league last season, is set to make a return for Heerenveen, but Koeman was not taken aback. “I think Alves will start, which is nice. It may be an interesting game.”
PSV may make a few changes against Heerenveen tomorrow night, but Koeman was adamant that his team will not take the cup tie lightly. “We will make some changes and rest a few players, but I will not announce the starting eleven until tomorrow. We will largely stick to the team that has done so well lately.”
Koeman has named the Brazilian goalkeeper Cssio Ramos in his squad to face Young Heerenveen. Bas Roorda featured in Young PSV's 1-0 defeat against Young FC Utrecht and will not join the squad on their trip to the north of the country. “Cssio will feel involved, which enhances his development. And we told Roorda to gain match fitness by making appearance for Young PSV at times.”
