PSV General Manager Jan Reker has confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that Sef Vergoossen is the main candidate to take over the vacant managerial post at PSV. The club has contacted Vergoossen, who is currently at the helm of the Japanese club Nagoya Grampus Eight. The 60-year-old coach has been asked to take charge as head coach at PSV for the remainder of the season, with PSV's former head coach Ronald Koeman having recently departed for Valencia.

'I have approached Sef Vergoossen personally', told Jan Reker PSV Media. 'We will provide clarity within a few days.'
The past few days, speculation had already strongly linked Vergoossen with PSV, but now it has been officially announced that Vergoossen is the main candidate to be appointed on a short-term deal to replace Ronald Koeman as coach.
Vergoossen had spells with, among other clubs, VVV, MVV, Roda JC (cup winners in 2000), Racing Genk (champions of Belgium in 2002 and Champions League participation in the 2002/03 season) and with Phillip Cocu's current club, Al Jazeera. Vergoossen had intimated before that he intends to retire from professional football, but added he would very much like to delay making that decision if PSV registered an interest in his services.
