On Friday afternoon, Jan Wouters conducted the weekly briefing for the last time, ahead of Sunday afternoon's clash with NAC Breda. PSV crashed to defeat at FC Groningen on Boxing Day and Wouters told media representatives that it felt like taking a hard punch in the face, but added that the players are anxious to get back to winning ways when they take on NAC Breda.

'We were especially shocked by the way in which we were beaten. We lacked the absolute desire to win the game. The players realised they did not win enough duels and now it's up to them to make amends.' PSV have no fresh injury worries and want to end the year on a high note. 'NAC will always put in spirited displays, but at home, backed by a vociferous home crowd who sing their hearts out, they pull off better results than on their travels', concluded Wouters.
Wouters will step down as caretaker coach after Sunday's game and Sef Vergoossen will take over in January. 'I will not feel relief' said Wouters. 'It's my ambition to be assistant coach at PSV. I work for PSV and I've always taken the club's interest at heart.'
