PSV are keen to maintain their lead at the top of the Eredivisie as they take on VVV-Venlo on Sunday afternoon, with a 12:30 kick off. Sef Vergoossen had no selection worries ahead of the clash with VVV-Venlo, so the PSV new caretaker coach sticks with the starting eleven that defeated Feyenoord last time out. Lazovic is again given the nod to start up front alongside Farfán, with Dzsudzsák, Afellay and Bakkal operating in midfield. Timmy Simons captains the side, while Salcido partners Marcellis in the centre of defence. Addo is away on Africa Cup Nations duty.
PSV and VVV-Venlo enjoy a long standing bond of friendship. Sef Vergoossen took charge for many years at VVV as head coach and technical director. Jan Reker was coach in Venlo and Stan Valckx started his career as a professional player with VVV-Venlo. Dirk Marcellis came through all the youth ranks before he joined PSV and the two teams always meet in a pre-season friendly with Herman Teeuwen Memorial Award at stake. Danny Koevermans, PSV's leading scorer having bagged eleven goals so far this season, may be brought on as a substitute later this afternoon, while deputy keeper Roorda, Rajkovic, Culina, Méndez, Zonneveld and Aissati also have to settle for a place in the bench.
PSV starting line-up:
Gomes, Kromkamp, Marcellis, Salcido, Alcides, Simons, Bakkal, Afellay, Dzsudzsák, Lazovic and Farfán.
Substitutions: Roorda, Zonneveld, Méndez, Koevermans, Rajkovic, Culina and Aissati.
