The live coverage of Wednesday night's UEFA Cup game PSV v Helsingborgs IF through Eindhoven's high-quality glass fibre networks has been a great success. Ons Net Eindhoven and PSV launched a high definition broadcast for the second time and both parties involved hailed the experiment as a success as the technical facilities ran smoothly.
Ons Net Eindhoven, PSV, Technicolor and Edutel have been co-operating closely to make sure the live coverage of the game in HD 720p would meet high expectations. The glass fibre networks at the Philips Stadium is connected with the Ons Net networks in Eindhoven. Philips Research will use the high definition pictures afterwards for editing and analysing purposes. 'The trial broadcast was launched effortlessly', said an Eyeworks spokesman. PSV were also delighted with the successful technology experiment. 'This is a milestone and a huge step forward for the club', said PSV's Marketing & Media manager Peter Kentie.
