PSV head coach Sef Vergoossen told media representatives at the post-match conference that he was delighted with PSV's third away win in Europe in a row, but was quick to put things in perspective. 'We'll take a one-nil lead into the second leg, but realise there are no guarantees in football. Tottenham are a capable and dangerous side', said Vergoossen.
Vergoossen emphasized that Tottenham still have everything to play for. 'We have earned a slender 1-0 advantage, but the tie is far from over. We stand a fair chance to reach the last eight of the UEFA Cup, but are well aware we haven't won anything yet. We were well organised, put pressure on their defence and moved the ball about fairly well. We scored a priceless away goal in the first half and got some good chances that could have seen us extend our lead even further after the break. We played well in the second half and 2-0 was closer than 1-1 ever was.'

PSV now have a fair chance to reach the last eight of the UEFA Cup, but the PSV head coach remained cautious in spite of his team's fine display. 'Tottenham Hotspur are a capable and dangerous side. They need to bounce back and I think it doesn't make that much difference to them whether they play at home or away', concluded Vergoossen.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos maintained the tie was far from over, but admitted that PSV were the better team on the night. 'We still have a second leg and when you lose by one goal it's not too bad. PSV played better than us and we have to accept this result.'
