The PSV board of directors and management are extremely disappointed with a lengthy exclusive interview that goalkeeper Gomes granted the weekly football magazine Voetbal International, published on 23 April. The reputation of the club has been marred by the article and casts a slur on the club and the championship that PSV have won, the fourth Eredivisie title in a row.
PSV will handle this case internally and will not make any more public statements. As a professional organisation, PSV has adequate processes to put criticism under discussion. The club thinks that the remarks and the tone of the article are entirely unacceptable and will consequently take appropriate measures. PSV have always been extremely satisfied with the achievements of goalkeeper Gomes. As has been made clear through a number of contract extensions, the club is keen to keep Gomes at PSV for a longer period of time.
