It was another weekend of mixed fortunes for the PSV players away on international duty. Carlos Salcido, Eric Addo and Jason Culina represented Mexico, Ghana and Australia respectively at qualification matches for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Carlos Salcido and Jason Culina won, Eric Addo lost.

The Socceroos cruised to a 3-1 victory at Qatar. They took a 3-0 lead before the hosts scored a consolation goal one minute from time. PSV midfielder Jason Culina played the entire match. Mexico opened their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 win over Belize in Houston in the USA. PSV defender Carlos Salcido played the full 90 minutes. Ghana slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Gabon in Libreville in a joint Nations Cup/World Cup qualifier. Eric Addo was given a place in the starting line-up but was taken off at half time.
