The international PSV players were hardly involved in last weekend's World Cup qualifying matches. Carlos Salcido was the only PSV player on show as Mexico cruised to a 7-0 victory against Belize. Defender Xiang Sun, a former PSV player, played a major part in China's 1-0 win over Australia.

With Australia having already reached the next stage of qualification and China out of contention, Jason Culina was not included in the Australian squad as they lost their final group match. Australia made a host of changes to their squad but went down 1-0 to China in Sydney. Former PSV defender Xiang Sun, the first Chinese player to ever compete in the Champions League, helped his team secure a win with a stunning strike in the 12th minute.

The Mexicans comfortably cruised to an easy 7-0 World Cup qualifying win. Central American minnows Belize were completely outclassed in the match played in Monterrey, in northeast Mexico. PSV defender Carlos Salcido played the full match for Mexico. Elsewhere at World Cup 2010 level, Ghana defeated Gabon 2-0 in a World Cup qualifying match on Saturday. PSV defender Eric Addo was left out Ghana's starting line-up. Ghana occupy the top spot in Group 5 in the African zone qualifiers of the 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup.
